Choosing chords that sound good together can be a challenge if you don't know music theory. The following chart is meant to serve as a guide to identifying all the chords within any major key. Choosing chords that are in the same key is the easiest way to create your own chord progressions.
- Pick a key - Each key represents a horizontal row.
- Pick a scale degree number - Each number represents a vertical column. All notes falling in that column match the quality listed under the scale degree (major, minor, or diminished)
- Identify your chord and quality - For example if you pick the key of "G major", and then pick scale degree "2", you would play an "A minor" chord.
