So I know that not everyone is familiar with the musical alphabet, but I think it's pretty safe to assume that if you're reading this article you have somewhat of an idea of what we're talking about here. Just to play it safe, though, let's start with the basic 7 letters of the musical alphabet.
A - B - C - D - E - F - G
Watch out for those half steps...
Each letter of the musical alphabet is separated by either a whole step or a half step. The key is to immediately memorize the 2 places where the half steps naturally occur. If you are not dealing with one of these 2 places, then everything else is a whole step.
